The Nourishing Deep Pore Oil Cleanser is a way of cleansing the skin using oils and massage. Oil to cleanse the skin? It sounds counter-intuitive but oils can dissolve hardened oil that can get stuck in your pores, and also help remove other impurities such as built up dirt, sweat and makeup. The massage part helps the oil get deeper in your pores to do its work, and who doesn't love a good massage?
This can be particularly helpful to those suffering from blemishes, or for removing heavy makeup and/or sunscreen. We made this using a mixture of drawing and moisturising oils. The drawing oils help pull out and dissolve old oils, and the moisturising oils, such as Jojoba Oil, are high in antioxidants and help keep skin hydrated and soft. This means you can cleanse and moisturise your skin at the same time! How’s that for multi-tasking?
Cleansing with oil is particularly beneficial because it doesn't strip the skin of its natural oils, which can ultimately lead to an overproduction of more oil and lead to further breakouts. To find out more, check out our blog post on the topic of cleansing with oil here.
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Polysorbate 60 (Food Grade Emulsifier), Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Geranium Maculatum Oil.
Because we make our products for our families, we have a strict ingredient philosophy that excludes ingredients like Parabens and Phenoxyethanol.
We show all of the ingredients we use in our products on our website, not just the pretty ones. That way you know exactly what's in each one, and can get in touch if you have any more questions.
Please be aware that the ingredients we use in our formulas may be updated occasionally and therefore vary from time to time. Please refer to the ingredient list on the product packaging for the most up-to-date and relevant list of ingredients.
How do you use the Nourishing Deep Pore Oil Cleanser?
Simply massage oil into the skin. The longer you do this, the better as it allows the oil to penetrate deeper into the pores and dissolve old oil that can be clogging your pores. It’s also a great excuse for a face massage which feels really nice too. Wet your hands with water and massage again to emulsify the oils, then rinse off with water.
For an extra deep clean, after oil has been massaged into the skin, soak a washcloth in hot water, wring out and place on face to steam out built-up impurities. This will help pores open up and allow the oils to penetrate further. Rinse with water or wipe face clean with a washcloth. Follow with your favourite serum and moisturiser (such as our Night Cream) for a complete nighttime skincare routine.
Why don't we make different cleansers for different skin types?
We often get asked why we don’t make different cleanser specific to different skin types such as dry, oily, normal or combination skin. While we believe that people have different skin types and different skin needs, if you look closely at ingredient labels, you’ll notice that there often isn't much difference between products specifically made for each variation. In our opinion, we don’t think all the different types of cleansers are needed if you have a good formula (we think ours are pretty darn good). A cleanser made for oily skin would have a higher concentration of cleansers than one made for dry skin, but you can achieve much the same result by varying the amount of cleanser you use or washing your skin twice, if needed.
What other products are suitable for blemish-prone skin?
We have a few other products that specifically address blemishes. Our Blemish Cleansing Moisturiser was designed to help prevent the external causes of breakouts using healthy ingredients (not bleaches like Benzoyl Peroxide). By using it twice a day, it helps prevent oil from oxidising in the pores, as well as cleansing the skin of the type of bacteria that causes breakouts.
Our Tamanu Oil is a lush oil that helps when dealing with blemishes. It's best applied after washing, but before moisturising. While it might seem counterintuitive to use oil on blemishes, adding oils to the skin actually helps the skin to stop overproducing its own oil, which is one of the main causes for blemishes.
And finally, for those looking to exfoliate, we created our Gentle Exfoliating Powder, a gentle, non-abrasive facial exfoliant designed to keep the skin fresh by exfoliating physically and enzymatically.
Are you cleansers safe for lash extensions?
The Milk Wash is great for lash extensions. It has the same irritation score as water and uses a combination of gentle natural cleansers. Oils can break down the glue used, so steer clear of using the Nourishing Deep Pore Oil Cleanser on the eye area whilst you’ve got lashes on.
